Program Overview
These 60–90 minute productions provide a pathway for young artists to embrace greater challenges while developing more sophisticated performance skills. Students begin to explore deeper character work, more demanding vocal techniques, and collaborative ensemble skills.
Emerging Artist Shows feature enhanced production values including more detailed costumes, sophisticated lighting, and fuller orchestration — while students also begin to take on backstage responsibilities, learning about the technical aspects of theater production and developing leadership skills.

Where Emerging Artist Shows Fit
Emerging Artist Shows are the top tier of 0.0 - Junior Stages — after Camps and Junior Shows, and before young artists move into 0.0 - Signature Stages. This is where the educational pathway transitions from “introduction to theater” to “I’m a serious young theater artist.”
Operational Notes
The Director is now able to do real character work — see Director’s Guide. The Music Director introduces healthy belt, harmony parts, and more demanding rep — see Music Supervisor’s Guide for vocal pedagogy. The Choreographer can layer complexity for mixed-ability casts — see Choreographer’s Guide. Backstage responsibilities give the Stage Manager and the design team opportunities to mentor Youth in the Booth participants.
