Page to Stage
Encore’s three-part theater education program for visiting groups. Transforms a traditional school field trip into a meaningful learning experience.
Program Overview
A comprehensive three-part theater education experience for visiting groups (schools, community organizations). Page to Stage frames theater attendance as guided learning rather than passive consumption.
Program structure
- Pre-Show Workshop. Exploring the production’s context, themes, and theatrical elements before attending. Similar to a Table Work session.
- Live Performance. Guided theater attendance experience.
- Post-Show Discussion and Talkbacks. Reflection, analysis, and connection back to the workshop’s learning. This is done either through group discussion, a meet and greet with artists from the production, or a bit of both.
Educational outcomes
- Makes theater accessible to diverse audiences
- Connects artistic experience with educational discovery
- Develops critical thinking and analysis skills
- Builds lifelong appreciation for the arts
How It Differs from a Regular Performance
Page to Stage groups are scheduled into specific performances and receive the pre-show and post-show frames as part of the package. The performance itself is the standard production; the difference is the structured learning that bookends it.
